IAQ afecta la comodidad, la salud y la productividad de los ocupantes del edificio. La Organizaci\u00f3n Mundial de la Salud (OMS) considera que la contaminaci\u00f3n del aire interior es el mayor riesgo para la salud ambiental del mundo.<\/p>\n<p>El Instituto de M\u00e9tricas y Evaluaci\u00f3n de la Salud (IHME, por sus siglas en ingl\u00e9s) public\u00f3 un estudio que describi\u00f3 la contaminaci\u00f3n del aire interior como la causa de 1,6 millones de muertes prematuras en 2017. Lo asombroso es que incluso super\u00f3 en n\u00famero a las muertes por homicidio (alrededor de 400 000) en el mismo a\u00f1o por cuatro veces ! Estos datos enfatizan cu\u00e1n espantosa puede ser la contaminaci\u00f3n del aire interior, lo que la convierte en uno de los asesinos m\u00e1s brutales del mundo.<\/p>\n<p>La contaminaci\u00f3n del aire interior es un factor de riesgo global que puede ponernos en peligro y hacer que el mundo se ponga de pie. Su combusti\u00f3n libera gases t\u00f3xicos como CO y COV que hacen que el aire sea irrespirable e inducen numerosas dolencias para la salud. Los ingresos son cruciales para determinar el acceso a la energ\u00eda y sus fuentes. Los pa\u00edses con ingresos muy bajos tienden a depender de fuentes convencionales como excrementos de animales, le\u00f1a y residuos de cultivos. Con un aumento marginal en el ingreso bruto de un pa\u00eds, la elecci\u00f3n del combustible se traslada a otras fuentes como el carb\u00f3n y el carb\u00f3n vegetal. Las personas que residen en \u00e1reas rurales de ingresos relativamente altos tambi\u00e9n recurren a estas fuentes. Solo el 60% de la poblaci\u00f3n mundial total tiene acceso a combustibles limpios como GLP, etanol, biog\u00e1s y electricidad. Por lo tanto, la dependencia de los combustibles s\u00f3lidos y el impacto resultante es m\u00e1s prominente en los pa\u00edses de bajos ingresos.<\/p>\n<p>Por lo tanto, la necesidad del momento es optar por combustibles m\u00e1s limpios y ecol\u00f3gicos.
