Significant cities in northern India, such as <strong>New Delhi<\/strong>, <strong>Greater Noida<\/strong>, <strong>Noida<\/strong>, <strong>Ghaziabad<\/strong>, and <strong>Faridabad<\/strong>, consistently report incredibly high pollution levels, particularly during <strong>winter, <\/strong>due to <strong>stubble burning<\/strong> and <strong>vehicular emissions<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.aqi.in\/dashboard\/india\/delhi\/new-delhi\">New Delhi<\/a><\/strong>, the capital city, topped the charts with an AQI of <strong>169<\/strong>, placing it in the <strong>Unhealthy<\/strong> category. The city\u2019s air quality in 2024 was equivalent to <strong>smoking 1,576 cigarettes<\/strong> annually, based on a PM2.5 concentration of <strong>95 \u00b5g\/m\u00b3<\/strong>. <strong>November to January<\/strong> recorded the most polluted months, with AQI levels reaching the <strong>Hazardous<\/strong> category.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>India\u2019s struggles with air pollution<\/strong> are not limited to New Delhi. <strong>There are 94 of the top 100 most polluted cities globally<\/strong> in India.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n<p>Industrial<strong> emissions<\/strong>, <strong>vehicular pollution<\/strong>, and <strong>agricultural burning<\/strong> are the major contributors to air pollution in India.
