NH3 Sensor 50 PPM

Prana Air’s ammonia (NH3) sensor is a combination of mature electrochemical detection technology and sophisticated circuit design It is a tightly combined module, designed, and manufactured for general-purpose and industrial gas modules.

Our electrochemical ammonia gas module is a general-purpose module that uses the electrochemical principle to detect NH3 existing in the air. It has good selectivity and stability, built-in temperature sensor for temperature compensation; with digital output and analog voltage output at the same time, easy to use.

Ammonia (NH3) is a colorless gas with a strong, noticeable smell, that causes air pollution. It is an alkaline gas that is present in the atmosphere, emitted through livestock waste management, agriculture activities, and some pesticides. It remains in the air for a few hours but it reacts to other pollutants in that short amount of time interval. That is then harmful and poisonous for humans to inhale.

Why to Choose Prana Air Ammonia (NH3) Sensor ?

The compact size of the sensor enables it to be installed into any kind of setting, big or small, allowing it to be versatile in handheld as well as stationary devices.

The NH3 sensor comes with a long service life of almost 18000 hours. With this kind of longevity, there is no need to worry about calibration and breakdown.

Highly Responsive

Prana Air NH3 sensor is not only precise but swift too with an average response time of lesser than 30 seconds.

Energy Efficient

With our sensors, there is no need to worry about energy consumption as not only they are accurate but energy-saving too.

Individual Calibrated

Ammonia sensors are calibrated for every device before integration for providing accurate observation.

RoHS Compliant

Our sensors are in sync with the guidelines set by the RoHS for the restriction of hazardous substances in electrical and electronic equipment.

Technology We Use

What technology is being used in Ammonia (NH3) Sensor?

Our monitors use an electrochemical sensor for NH3 monitoring which is the most sought-after monitoring among different monitoring processes. Our NH3 sensor works on the principle of the electrochemical gas sensing technique. These sensors are amperometric fuel cells designed to quantify the concentration of a gaseous toxin. The approach consists of three parts: two electrodes (working and counter) and an ion conductor. The ion conductor serves as an electrode bridge. When NH3 travels through the sensor, an oxidation and reduction reaction produces a current between the electrodes. The current generated is proportional to the amount of NH3 present.

NH3 Sensor Calibration

Calibration of the NH3 sensor is comparing the standard measurement with your device’s measurement. To calibrate the sensor, 23 + 3oC temperature, 50 + 15% relative humidity, 0.9-1.1atm pressure, and air velocity of 0.05m/s were used as standard environmental conditions. The accuracy and traceability of measurement are also determined by calibration. For calibration, the NIST standard of gas cylinders is used for reference.

Frequently Asked Questions
(NH3 Sensor)

What are the factors that can affect the sensor from working?

The factors such as water, salt contamination, operation at high temperatures, and low humidity for a prolonged period can affect the performance of the sensor.

What are some factors that have to be kept in mind while using the sensor?

Electrolyte leakage will cause damage, please do not disassemble the sensor at will. Measuring the gas at zero point must be carried out in a clean atmosphere.

Will the sensor come with a digital board?

The sensor does not come with a digital board; if needed, an additional purchase of a digital board and the microcontroller is recommended.

What is the safe level of exposure for NH3?

The NIOSH REL for NH3 – ammonia is 25 PPM averaged over an 8-hour work day.

What connectivity is used in the NH3 sensor?

Prana Air provides our own solution for the connectivity of the sensor through a USB microcontroller and digital board to UART Bridge.

Is there any warranty on the sensor?

Prana Air provides 6 months warranty on the sensor only on manufacturing defects.
