NO2 gas usually gets in the air from the burning of fuel like emissions from cars, buses, trucks, factories, etc. Its presence in the air contributes to forming of air pollutants. This is a very harmful gas that can cause respiratory infections and asthma, even reducing crop yields of agricultural activities.
The sensor comes with a strong signal combined with a low zero current resolution of 50 parts per billion (ppb) and an operating range of 20ppm. It is suitable for portability, fixed installation, gas analyzers, and air quality monitoring devices. The sensor has an electrolyte leak-free guarantee and reliable long-term detection performance.

Nitrogen Dioxide is an air pollutant with a pungent odor. The color of gas is reddish-brown, brown, or yellow. The gas is highly oxidant in nature and reacts with materials that are combustible and reduceable. The reaction can result in the formation of nitric acid and nitric oxide. The sources of nitrogen dioxide are the combustion of fossil fuels, vehicular emissions, welding activities, use of explosives, refining industry such as metal and petrol, volcanoes, and bacterial activity.
The sensor is small in size having ultra-thin packaging that eases the fit in big and handheld devices for monitoring.
The sensor has about 10 years (a decade) of operational life outlasting other sensors available on the market.
The sensor has a swift response time of about 15 seconds.
The power input required by the nitrogen gas sensors for operation is very low which reduces the energy consumption.
For higher accuracy and precision, the sensor is individually calibrated.
The nitrogen Dioxide sensor is free from toxic and hazardous substances and is in compliance with ROHS.
The Nitrogen Dioxide gas sensors are based upon electrochemical gas sensing technology. The technology is based upon oxidation and reduction. The current is generated between the working and counter electrode whenever the gas flows over the sensor. Working and counter electrodes are connected with an ion conductor. This generated current gives the concentration of Nitrogen Dioxide in the air. This has been a proven and accurate method of measuring the concentration of NO2.
The calibration of sensor is done under certain standard environmental conditions which are 23 + 3oC temperature, 50 + 15% relative humidity, 0.9-1.1atm pressure and air velocity of 0.05m/s. Comparison between standard measurement and observed measurement with your device is called calibration. Nitrogen dioxide is exposed in a range of interest and as a reference for calibration NIST standard of gas cylinder is used.
